Potential issues and how we handle them

Our products use highly technical fabrics. To make sure that they continue to perform at their best, they need care. Here are a few tips to help you look after your ASSOS products so they'll be there to help you suffer in comfort for longer.

Fabric piling does not occur by itself. It always is the result of abrasion.

  • Do not use embroidered saddles.
  • Make sure the Velcro fastener of the saddle pocket does not touch the shorts
  • Saddle designs which expose the top part of your seat post do cause "touching" and lead to piling.
  • Do not wash together with gloves, bags, rain jackets, etc. because of the Velcro straps!

Unfortunately, we cannot repair and such problem is never a manufacturing defect.

Considering the stress the fine threads on the side of the chamois undergo every time you extend your leg, it is quite normal that this eventually happens. No problem, we can repair it.

Sweat is toxic. On some individuals it's more, on others it's less. The phenomenon occurs because of bacterial attack. Due to their performance nature, ASSOS fabrics are delicate and deterioration eventually might occur. In order to minimize this problem, we recommend you water rinse the garment after each ride. Also, never store the garment moist or in a closed environment like a plastic bag.

We might be able to repair small damages and, if technically possible, will gladly do so.

Most of the time, they are due to wrong sizing. If you feel there is a comfort problem, please let us know and describe your problem prior to sending in the garment. If it is due to a wrong size, ASSOS cannot be held responsible but we will do our best to find a solution to accommodate you.

Swiss development and engineering meets Swiss strength and determination.

To maximize the products’ performance and its longevity.
We recommend following these simple guidelines:
  1. When dressing or undressing do not pull unnecessarily on fabrics and seams. To do so, dress and undress carefully, step-by-step.
  2. Before starting your ride, get in the riding position and gently adjust each garment’s position (seams, insert, etc.).
  3. ASSOS shorts are tailored for the riding position. It is therefore normal that the bibs pull on the shoulders when standing upright. If this is not the case, use a smaller size.
  4. Avoid pulling on the shorts when urinating (men only); slightly bend over to minimize stress on the seams of bibs.
  5. When riding under pressure (e. g. climbing) the body sweats more. In such cases, improve ventilation by playing with the front zipper to help keep body temperature stable.

Chamois Crème

In order to further increase riding comfort, we recommend the use of ASSOS Chamois Crème. The ASSOS Chamois Crème reduces friction and keeps your skin cooler. It prevents inflammation and has antibacterial properties. Apply directly on the skin (avoid intimate areas) before each ride. Furthermore, after every laundering, apply a thin layer onto the shorts' insert. This maintains suppleness, elasticity and antibacterial properties. Used by many professionals regardless of the brand of their shorts. ASSOS Chamois Crème – simply a must. Don't leave home without it!

Active Wear Cleanser

When laundering we recommend traditional hand washing using ASSOS Active Wear Cleanser or a mild liquid detergent. ASSOS Active Wear Cleanser is delicate on elastic fibers, PH neutral, neutralizes odors, enhances breathing of textiles and maintains sharp color sublimation.

Store and Wash

  1. After each ride, hang the garments in a well-ventilated environment or wash them immediately.
  2. Do not hang the garments in the direct sunlight.
  3. Never store damp clothes in a non-ventilated environment (e.g. plastic bags, sport bag, suitcase, etc.).
  4. If your body has a tendency to sweat a lot, water-rinse the garments after each use to protect the fibers from bacterial attacks which might lead to fabric deterioration.

  1. Washing a garment means putting stress on fabric and seams! Therefore, wash cycling garments separately from other clothes / accessories to prevent friction.
  2. Before washing, turn the garments inside out (seams on the outside).
  3. Machine-wash is possible but always use a wash bag, a delicate cycle and lukewarm water (max. 30° C).
  4. Do not use bleach and/or softeners. Use a mild liquid detergent only (e.g. ASSOS active wear cleanser).
  5. Do not soak, wring or rub. Do not spin after washing. To remove excess water from your garment gently squeeze by hand.
  6. Dry garments flat or hanging, but do not tumble dry.
